Well let’s see. First I’ll start by telling you how she has the voice of an angel. How she is not only a straight A student, but how she studies sports medicine and love helping people. That she loves Jesus, Pride and Prejudice, Rom Coms, and has been to Gana to help with an orphanage there and fallen in love with the people there. In fact, after high school she will be going to Gana again to be with the kids she fell so in love with!
Naturally when I heard all about who she was; how kind-hearted, talented, and wise-beyond-her-years she was, I had ideas running through my mind about how we could show the world through her senior pictures who HANNAH is.
So we did just that. I took her out into nature to capture all the fall things; she had a gorgeous black dress that totally reminded me of the choir dresses they wear, and I had her sing for her momma and I in the middle of the most beautiful field. We forgot her sheet music to throw around so I made a composite image to make that vision come to life. We brought along her passport and took pictures in the desert with her Gana bracelets, shirt and pants she had brought back from there, letters from the orphanage, and one of the most sentimental items, a painting they had gifted her when she had left.
One of the most memorable moments for me was when Hannah pulled the painting out and as we were taking pictures with it, she looked at it and tears welled up in her eyes as she remembered all her friends there. It touched my heart deeply, to see how much that place had had an impact on her. As a teacher to children myself, I know the deep ache that comes from falling in love with those sweet souls, and cannot wait for when she can go back to the place she is so obviously called to.
Overall, working with Hannah and her sweet mother was one of the greatest joys of my life. When I went to drop off her prints, her mom let me know that it went both ways;
Thank you both so much for the honor of working with you guys and getting to know you through our time together! I know God is going to use you in the biggest of ways, Hannah, and I can’t wait to see where life takes you. Love you so much!
