I myself have never been through it, but working at the hospital for the last year photographing newborns and being around so many pre/post-pregnant women has made me so very aware and in awe of the beauty of carrying a child around inside of you.
When I first met Kylee, she was one of the prettiest, skinniest girls I had ever met, and I knew my best friend Cameron was madly in love with her. When we found out the two of them were having a little girl together, I couldn’t contain my excitement for the two of them.
When Kylee asked me to be the one to shoot her maternity pictures for her, I was absolutely ecstatic. I was especially thrilled when she let me know she was totally up for a maternity boudoir session. Fast forward to February and here we were in the studio, and I couldn’t believe how big Kylee’s tummy was! She was still so small for being so pregnant, but thinking back to that summer day when I had first met her it was amazing how much her body had transformed. She told me stories of what it’s like being 7 months pregnant, and how Payton keeps her up late, and how excited she was to start setting up the nursery as I snapped away, and aseveryone else watched the Superbowl, Kylee and I spent that evening capturing her beauty. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening, with the gorgeous golden light and warm weather. And at the end of our session when Kylee stepped into the maternity dress she had ordered, my jaw seriously dropped to the ground! She was like an angel, and I was in pure heaven.
It’s always an honor when I get the chance to record such significant moments in peoples’ lives, and when it’s my close friends it especially reaches home for me. Tonight we celebrated baby Payton at Kylee’s baby shower, and it made me realize how soon my best friends will be parents. Thank you guys so much for everything, and for allowing me to be here as you grow as a couple and as a family.
