Here at Boudoir by Kayla, I'm not focused on what you look like. I'm focused on what you feel like. I'm going to change the way you think of your body so that you no longer view it as some object, but rather as a person or a place; As an extension of YOU. Hello! I'm Makayla, and I am so excited that you're here and just thinking about doing this session for yourself.
I'm a 28 year old, 5' nothing hippy at heart who loves the Lord, sustainable living, working out, and crowd surfing (:P). If you're familiar with the enneagram I'm an enneagram 8, & am often told I'm "too passionate" or "too open"- but I believe in no such thing! I've been married for 7 years to my high school sweetheart and am a mom to the sweetest little boy, who I share way too much of but I can't help it!
I've been shooting for over a decade and have had the honor of owning and renting out a studio space in Meridian, ID for the last 5 years.
Since I was in high school, I've had such a heart for women and helping them find healing and joy in who they were created to be. For years I worked in youth ministry, mentoring girls from the time they were 7 to 17. I've always made it my mission to be a safe space for those around me by meeting every person with empathy and compassion, while still speaking truth in love to call people to the best version of themselves they can be. It's such an honor that I've been able to work with and love on thousands of women over the last decade in my business and I hope that I get the chance to work with you this year!

Alright, you've booked your session- AH! Now what? The butterflies are kicking up a storm in your tummy, and you're already starting to wonder if you can back out or change your mind about this.
What do I wear? I'm not a model. How am I going to pose? Will I be awkward?
These are all normal and very understandable concerns and nerves 99% of my clients have! And also why consultations are such a vital part of my brand.
Right as these thoughts start pinging around your brain, suddenly your phone pings. "Welcome to Boudoir by Kayla!" An email filled with your client welcome packet is waiting for you, filled with details on how to prepare, what to expect, ideas for your session, and where to shop. Not to mention, a link to schedule your consultation as soon as you'd like!
Phew! Okay, I feel better already.
Several weeks later, you arrive at the studio for the first time. Snacks and a beverage await you as I shake your hand and give you a warm hug. I ask you questions and go over your client questionnaire with you. You're meeting a new friend for the first time but as she listens to your story intently, it really feels like you've known each other forever.
Man, this girl is EXCITED and has some ideas I hadn't even thought of! She really puts thought into all of this.
Shortly after you leave your consultation, you get another email with all the ideas we discussed. You may have some shopping to do, but you're actually so excited for it.
Oh man, this is going to be so fun. I don't even know what I was so nervous about. Let's do this!
YOUR CONSULTATION

It's the morning of your session, and those gosh darn butterflies are back again!
You do one final scan through the session details list that I sent you to make sure you've got everything packed that we had discussed at your consultation.
Oooh yes, my white button up! I almost forgot that, glad I looked one last time at the email Makayla sent me.
You get in the car and arrive at the studio. Music greets your ears as you sweep the door open and then hear a high, energetic welcome from around the corner.
"Hiiiii! Oh my goodness, come in come in! Are you so ready for this??"
You follow me to the hair and makeup area where an artist is all set up and waiting for you. I grab your items and start hanging them up while you hop in a chair and are handed a comforting beverage.
You close your eyes and take a deep breath. As the brush tickles across your face, the artist and you strike up a conversation about one another.
An hour and a half later, you spin around and look in the mirror. Your jaw drops- That's ME??? Wow. Can I just have a makeup artist come do my makeup every day??"
You step into your first outfit of the day as I lead you into the boudoir room and get to work. Before you have time to think about any fears or insecurities, I'm posing you, oggling and "YASSS QUEEN!"ing you, and showing you a few back of the camera sneak peeks that blow you away.
We laugh, we dance, your back is a little sore but before you know it, 2 hours is up. I take one last look at my camera with a contended sigh and look at you. "Alright, I think we got them all, don't you agree??" You nod and laugh, dazed that one human could move so quickly, but so proud of yourself and excited to see the final photos.
Man, that was such a blast! I feel like we got so many good ones. I already want to do that again!

Just an hour or so after you leave the studio, your phone goes off. Just some sneak peeks I wanted to send you!
You sit there heart racing as you look at the images staring back at you. Totally unedited, all you can think and wonder is "That is ME??"
Either a couple hours or a couple weeks later, you open the door to the studio once again. You're so anxious to see all your images, you can hardly stand it! You settle on the couch as I press play and a slideshow begins. As image after image flashes by you, you can't stop yourself from reacting-
"WOW!!!" "MAKAYLA!" "Oh man, THAT'S hot!" "Oooh I love that one..."
As the final image fades away, you don't even know what to say. You knew that at least a few would be good but THIS MANY? How will I ever choose my favorites??
We sit down and over the next hour go through your images together. You flip back through products, eyeing that glass box filled to the brim with prints and admiring the thick pages on the lay flat album. You had some inkling of what you wanted in mind, but seeing the photos solidifies it. I point out some of my suggestions and personal faves as you start narrowing down your favorites.
Before you know it, we've picked out your final images. PHEW! That wasn't easy, but easier than I expected. And didn't take that long, either!
I write up your invoice and let you review it before sending it over. Now it's just time to wait for your final photos to be wrapped and delivered into your hands!
Several weeks later, it's like you're looking at your images for the first time all over again. You have them on your phone but there's just something about having them in your hands that transforms them. As you read through a thank you card and admire your prints, you smile with tears in your eyes and think:
That IS me. And I love her.
